The Shamrock Inkberry Holly is a compact, rounded, evergreen shrub.  Besides the leaves having no spines, this holly is noted for its ability to do well in wet regions. The leaves are small (1 ½” long), glossy, and dark green.  The shrub grows to 3’ to 4’ tall with a 3’ to 4’ spread.

Plant this holly in moist, acidic soil, in full to part sun, though it does have a good shade tolerance.  It is a slow-growing, low maintenance shrub, producing fewer root suckers than other plants in the species. Prune it to shape in the early spring. It is hardy to temperatures from -10 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
